Restorative Yoga in the Modern World - BIPOC Wellness Collective Series
SUN JAN 18, 2026, 4 - 5 PM EST (SUN JAN 18, 2026, 4 - 5 PM EST)

The modern day world can be fast-moving, chaotic, and it can be hard to slow down. The fast-paced lifestyle can result in anxiety, illness, body pain, and leaves us with no room for self-care. In restorative yoga, we respond to modern day expectations by slowing things completely down. For most poses, we’ll be laying down for several minutes, bringing in a sense of relaxation and restoration in our bodies and mind. Props such as bolsters and blocks will be provided for you to help get you as comfortable and relaxed as possible. Please bring your yoga mat. No experience is necessary.

This session is led by Gladys Calderon and is part of the BIPOC Wellness Collective yoga and meditation series - Sunday rotation. If you plan to attend, please register as it helps the instructor plan for the session. To register online, you do not have to have an account, you can register as a guest. This session is $15, you can pay online when you register, or you can pay in person by using cash or other online forms such as venmo. Please note - the venue is located in West Central, a neighborhood downtown, and there is only street parking available. Thank you!

About the BIPOC Wellness Collective: The BIPOC Wellness Collective provides an inclusive space for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) to practice yoga, meditation, and be in a space of community, led by some of Fort Wayne’s BIPOC instructors. Classes will rotate between different instructors who will ensure students at all levels are able to follow along and create a container that may leave them feeling stronger, empowered, or rested depending on the class design.

About Gladys: My focus is restorative and yin yoga because it slows me down in today’s fast-paced life and I see that as rebellion against the modern day world. These slower styles of yoga are more inclusive, and they help reduce body pain. I’m a Latina born in Nicaragua and raised in El Salvador and the U.S. I offer bilingual yoga but this session will be in English.
